Hi!

My name is Celia Östergaard. I was born in 2003 and has lived a life through the company of countless stories and fairytales. I've wanted to become an author and tell stories for as long as I can remember, and here I am now.

I am a young, self-published writer who loves to weave childhood tales and real historical events into fiction. If you're curious about my writing, follow me on my social media!

Love, Celia.

My Story

Books have always played a crucial role in my childhood.

My mother is a doctor in English literature and my grandmother is a retired history teacher, and these two aspects heavily affected my interests and passions as a young girl. I grew up with books and novels around every corner of the house, and Grandma never failed to enchant me with stories of old. So, I started to daydream and create my own stories from a very young age. I wanted, needed, to express my creativeness, otherwise I feared I would explode.

I learned how to read when I was five, mostly out of anxiety because I feared I would be the only one in my class who couldnt't read. I spent that entire summer reading and reading, and I simply never stopped reading. I wrote my first novellas around eight, my first in English at ten, and started to work on my first unfinished novel at thirteen. Around the same time, I began collecting books as others breathe air - manically. I finished writing my first real novel - The Romanov Diary - at seventeen and published it at eighteen after years of research. I started my second novel - Stars we're made of - shortly after. And it was through the process of writing those books that I realised that writing was my call, my essence. That this is what I wanted to do with my life. I want to be creative and explore other worlds; ride the wind on the backs of magical creatures and experience epic love stories. That's what I wanted, what I truly wanted.

I have studied Literary Science and Historical Science at Uppsala University, Sweden, to not only satisfy passions but also to learn more. I will soon be taking courses in Creative Writing as well. My dream is to live off my writing, move to London or the Swedish countryside with my dogs or my cats, and visit museums and the cinema on the weekends; to hear the birds in early mornings and drink tea in the afternoons.

Money or reviews or fame has never been my drive when it comes to writing. I write to express myself - to challenge rules and fill my spirit with more colour. If there is one person out there, only one, who reads my work... that's more than I could ever ask for.

To the dreamers,

never stop dreaming.

Celia.
